Hennes Fischer
Senior advisor, Yamaha, Connected Motorcycle Consortium
Mr. Fischer’s roots are firmly planted in the motoring industry. After study of mechanical engineering and an education in journalism, he first worked for a daily newspaper in Southern Germany and soon became editor of Germany’s “Motorrad” and “MO” motoring magazines. He joined Yamaha Motor Europe in the mid-1980s where he was actively involved in global product planning. He also worked as a research & development adviser for the famous Japanese bike manufacturer. Today he acts as a Senior Adviser to Yamaha, where he represents the company’s interests at ACEM (Association of European Motorcycle Manufacturers) at EU level in Brussels and in various consortia such as CMC (Connetcetd Motorcycle Consortium), SBMC (Swapping Batterie Motorcycle Consortium) C2C-CC (Car2Car Communication Consortium). He is actively involved in ITS developments and vehicle safety issues. With his combination of engineering background and journalist background, he bridges the technical and marketing disciplines in the motoring industries. He is a dedicated rider himself, with many years of road racing in both German national championship as well as European championship. His passion is documented by two motorcycle speed records (over distances of 100 and 1000 km) set in 1981 on the high-speed test track in Nardò, Italy. At a somewhat slower pace, Fischer still enjoys riding historical racing bikes and motorcycle touring onroad and offroad.
