Edwin Bastiaensen

Secretary General, IMMA

Edwin Bastiaensen is a Dutch national and holds Master of Science in Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.

He is an experienced leader in sustainable mobility and transport deployment. During his 25-year career, he held diverse global, regional, and national leadership positions in both industry and government oriented around R&D;, intellectual property, regulatory affairs and business development.

In 2011 he was appointed as Secretary General of the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (IMMA), the voice of the global Motorcycle Industry towards institutions and regulatory forums, based in Geneva, Switzerland. IMMA currently celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Before IMMA, Edwin was Senior Manager Strategic Research/Engineering/IP with TomTom, the global leader in navigation technologies. He also provided consulting services for the European Motorcycle Industry Manufacturers Association (ACEM), coordinated EU-projects for ERTICO – ITS Europe with the automobile industry and provided consultancy services the European Commission on road infrastructure, Intelligent Transport Systems and Road Safety.

He started his career in the Ministry of Transport of the Netherlands researching and evaluating vehicle and mobility applications.
