Ramon Lamiel Villaró has been Director of the Servei Català de Trànsit, the Catalan traffic authority, since June 2021. He holds a degree in Biology and a diploma in Environmental Engineering, and has further training in public administration management and a master’s in Financial Management and Management Control.
He has held several senior management positions at Barcelona City Council; for the eight years before his appointment he was managing director of the city’s Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities. His career, built on cross-cutting work, innovation in public services and a special focus on the most vulnerable groups, has centred on sustainable urban mobility, transport accessibility for people with reduced mobility and projects towards a safe and sustainable mobility model.
At Barcelona City Council he took part in projects such as the city’s Basic Cycling Network and Bicycle Map, and in the design and launch of the Bicing bike-sharing system.
